Clayfield College Celebrates a Strong End to Term 3 at the 2024 QGSSSA Track and Field Championships
As Term 3 came to a close, Clayfield College Sport was brimming with pride as our Track and Field team once again delivered an outstanding performance at the 2024 QGSSSA Championships. The achievements of our athletes were inspiring, with several standout individual and team efforts that showcased our growth, determination, and commitment.
The QGSSSA Track and Field Championships are renowned for their high level of competition, making Clayfield College’s results even more impressive. Our athletes displayed incredible resilience and skill across a wide range of events, with many surpassing their personal bests and contributing to a strong team performance.
Among the top performers, Hayley Colless shone with a remarkable 2nd place finish in the 15 Years 100m Hurdles, achieving a new personal best. In the 14 Years category, Demi de Tournouer secured 4th place in the Division A 100m, also achieving a personal best, and just missed another PB in the 14 Years 200m, where she also placed 4th. Team captain, Isabella McDonnell-Baum, continued her impressive form, finishing 4th in both the 17+ Long Jump and Triple Jump, Division A. Co-team captain, Madi Morris, showcased her versatility by competing in the 17+ Years 100m, 200m, 400m, and the 4 x 100m relay, contributing significantly to the team’s efforts. A special mention goes to Chloe Noon, whose endurance and versatility were on full display as she competed in all three middle-distance events - 3000m, 1500m, and 800m - in one day, making her one of the standout athletes.
The team's overall performance reflected growth, with a 2-point improvement from our 2023 results. This progress underscores the ongoing dedication of our students to the Athletics program, and we are immensely proud of each athlete’s contribution to this success.
As we reflect on the 2024 QGSSSA Track and Field season, I would like to personally congratulate every student who participated. Many personal bests were set, new skills were developed, and perseverance was rewarded. To all the athletes: your commitment throughout the season was invaluable, and the team's collective effort was evident in every event.
A heartfelt thank you to our exceptional coaches for their guidance and dedication to the girls’ development, and to the parents for their unwavering support throughout the season.
Looking ahead, the dedication and hard work shown by our athletes this year have laid a solid foundation for continued success in future seasons.
