Class of 2024: Celebrating Legacy

On Thursday, Dr Cousins, Principal, welcomed the Class of 2024 for a memorable lunchtime event. Joined by Deidre Brandon (Class of 1957) and Guardian of the Clayfield College Old Collegians' Association, Dr Cousins addressed our Year 12 students in the Chapel, reflecting on their legacy and encouraging them as they enter their final preparations for external examinations.

In a gesture of inspiration, Dr Cousins presented each student with a thoughtful book, aimed at motivating them during this pivotal time. Following this, a new tradition was introduced: a rose-planting ceremony in the garden at the College's entrance. This symbolic act allowed the soon-to-be Old Collegians to leave a lasting mark at Clayfield, signifying their ongoing connection to the school.

They then enjoyed a shared lunch in the Clayfield College Museum with the Senior Leadership Team. This gathering served as a heartfelt reminder that the Class of 2024 will always be part of our Clayfield family.

Crazy Sock and Hair Day and The Clayfield Big Chop

Tomorrow, Friday 4 October, Youngman House will be hosting a Crazy Sock and Hair Day, where all students from Pre-Prep to 12 are invited to wear their craziest socks and hairdos. Youngman House will be raising money and awareness for The Kid’s Cancer Project. All money raised supports vital scientific research to develop better treatments for all children with cancer.

All fundraising days can be paid online, and children do not need to bring a gold coin. If you have not yet made your donation, please do so via the Pay Online section of the College Website: Select College Tours – Excursions & Activities – House Fundraisers 2024.

30 students will also participate in The Clayfield Big Chop, donating their hair to make wigs for cancer patients in support of the Kids Cancer Project’s Lose Your Locks Campaign.

You can donate to the Clayfield Big Chop Campaign page below. Thank you for your support!

Message from the LMYELN Representatives

Sherry Yang and Hazel Lo

2024 Lord Mayor's Youth Environmental Leadership Network (LMYELN) Representatives

Now that Term 4 is underway, hopefully everyone is back into the swing of things. We have been working hard over the past term to create a new way for Clayfield to recycle better. We have come up with special bins that will hold your used glass and plastic bottles, cans and batteries. If you have any of these items lying around at home or school, feel free to bring them in!

There will be four bins located throughout the College campus by next Tuesday. The first set will be in the Primary School area, next to the big rubbish bins, and the second set will be in the Tuckshop Courtyard, outside the Assembly Hall. Each set includes one bin for your batteries and another house-shaped bin for your bottles and cans. Please make sure that each item is placed into its respective bin as it makes for transport and disposal at the recycling plant much easier.

Reduce, reuse, and recycle! Reduce the waste for a better future! Let’s work together.
