Music Matters

Welcome back!

All Music ensembles and Junior Drama Ensemble have resumed rehearsals as per usual this week and are sounding fabulous!

Year 5 Class Choir Performances: Friday, Week 2, 25 October, 2:00 pm, College gym. All Year 5 parents, caregivers, families and friends are invited to see our Year 5 classes perform songs they have been learning this semester as part of their Music lessons, conducted by their music teachers. The Junior Chorale will also be singing at this special event.

Singing teacher: We warmly welcome Mr Ben Oxley as our new singing teacher.  A highly experienced singing teacher and performer, Mr Oxley replaces his son, Joshua who has been with us this year. Mr Oxley teaches both private and paired singing lessons. If your son is interested in learning singing, please contact the Music office for more information.

PAPA Term 4 Meeting - CHANGE OF DATE!!!

This term’s PAPA meeting is now on next Tuesday, 22 October, at 7:30 pm ONLINE.  Please use the link below to join us to discuss plans for our Christmas Twilight Concert (22 November) and initial thinking around some new ideas we are considering for next year!  All Performing Arts parents/carers are most welcome to attend, using the following link: teams.microsoft.com

Performing Arts Captains: Our upcoming Class of 2025 will be emailed with details on how to apply for consideration as a Performing Arts Captain for 2025. Successful candidates will have an obvious love for Music and/or Drama and have had a high level of involvement in the Performing Arts during their time at the College. These leadership positions are responsible for advocating for the Performing Arts throughout the school and assist with the organisation and MCing of College performances and events.

Private Tuition lessons: It is never too late to start learning an instrument (or voice!). Applications can be made through Clipboard. Just a reminder that discontinuation of lessons requires three-week minimum written advice, as per the Clipboard enrolment agreement.

Instrumental hire: Students who have hired instruments from the College for private home practice are asked to return them to the Performing Arts office at the end of Week 7 for servicing. Should your son require his instrument for school performance commitments after this time, he is asked to bring it to the Music office afterwards.

Oliver Twist Rehearsals

We begin our rehearsals for Oliver Twist this week. Students should bring their script and a pen/pencil to write down any notes.

No Intermediate Ensemble this week.

Junior Ensemble begins on Friday morning at 7:30 am.

Dates

  • Students in Oliver Twist should check every week when their rehearsals are.
  • Wednesday 20 November: STC to see Dear Evan Hansen (this is a joint Music & Drama Excursion during the day – we thank PAPA for contributing towards the payment of this event)
