Book Week
After weeks of waiting the winners of the Book Week writing competition were announced at assembly on the last day of term 3. Many aspiring authors submitted creative and imaginative entries that were excellent, making the job of selecting a winner very difficult.
Our winners were Emerson Weedon in grade 2, Lucy Hillas in grade 2 and Imogen Lamb in grade 5. Hazel Counsel received a special commendation for her amazing illustrations.
Once upon a time, there was a book that said no and wouldn't open for anyone in Egypt.
The first day a kid named Slake wanted to look at the book, but the book said no. The book said no because Slake chewed on books.
The second day a kid who was 5 years old named Jake wanted to look at the book. The book said no because the book remembered that Jake liked to throw books around.
The third day a boy named Sleeger wanted to look at the book. The book said no because it remembered that Sleeger liked to scribble in books.
The fourth day a girl named Meeka wanted to read the book. The book said no. The book said no because the book remembered that Meeka ripped pages in books.
The fifth day a girl named Nikita wanted to read the book. The book said no because the book remembered Nikita liked to smash pages of books with a hammer.
Sleeger, Jake, Meeka and Nikita all chased the book trying to catch it to put it in the bin because they were angry at the book because it wouldn't open for them. The book ran away and hid.
The next day Iga found the hiding book. Iga said kind words to the book. Then the book opened.
The End
April is an Olympic diver. She has a friend called Zoe and a pet called Pip.
Pip is a super swimmer which helps April practise.
Sometimes April, Zoe and Pip go to the water park.
The board they use is super high.
But Poppy and Lily are divers too they think they're the best at it and we are the worst.
They have three gold medals and we have got none but this time she is going to win - April thought.
One day when April dived her leg hit the board and she ended up breaking her leg!
She went to hospital then played with Pip for a bit and then she went to bed. She had to wait six weeks for her leg to heal so she had to rest.
Poppy and Lily thought it was funny but she wasn't sad about that she was sad about the fact that she broke her leg.
And finally her leg healed she can dive again! but I don't want to.
What if I fall? She will try to do it and she did she won a gold medal.
