Careers News

Mrs Yvette Kennedy

November, 2024  -  FACT:  Those who have goals are 10 times more likely to succeed than those without goals.

Congratulations Year 12! Thirteen years of schooling has now come to an end. It is a very special time as you graduate from high school and make decisions on what comes next. There are many different paths you can take; it's your own journey and it is not purely defined by your HSC results. Many of our students have received Early Admission to their chosen universities and we congratulate these students. Others have received scholarships, gained apprenticeships and cadetships. To all of our Year 12 students, we are so very proud of your achievements and we wish you all the very best for your future.

To the new Year 12, 2025 students my advice to you is to begin to explore options now for further study, employment or traineeships/apprenticeships. Set goals for your HSC and high expectations. Take opportunities as they arise and immerse yourself in extra curricular activities that can build a portfolio for future employment. If you need advice in any of these areas, please contact me and I can assist you.

UOW Discovery Day is happening on 13 February, 2024. This is a day where I invite interested students to attend University of Wollongong and explore courses and suitable options post school. Places are limited so please register your interest with me.

Partnerships

Our students have been exposed to some great STEM opportunities over the past term. The first experience was with NSW Mining who invited  our students to participate in a Virtual Reality experience to explore the number of Careers and options available in Mining. Our Engineering, Physics and Science students participated in this unique experience.

This term NeuraNext visited our College to demonstrate the wide usage of Artificial Intelligence in society. This included the future of AI and how it is being used in Robotics. Students were able to see robotics in action as well as explore future career opportunities in this industry. This was certainly an eye opening experience for all of our participating students.

Year 12 Design & Technology students also have had the opportunity to visit UTS for their Creative Industries Day. Students were able to explore pathways to further study in the field of Design, Architecture, Criminology, Education and International Studies. On this day, students also visited Torrens University, where they learnt first hand about a number of degree programs in Design, Business, Health and Hospitality. This is the start of their research into the best pathway for them post school.
