Dear Parents/Guardians
We wish to congratulate our Graduating class who completed the last of their Higher School certificate exams on Friday, 8 November. We are extremely proud of their preparations for these exams and for all their accomplishments over the past two years. As a College we now await in anticipation for their results that will be released on Wednesday, 18 December. We also invite Year 12 students to a Morning Tea on Wednesday, 18 December from 10.00am - 11.00am here at the College to celebrate with all students. Last Friday night students and staff attended the College Formal at Doltone House at Darling Harbour. It was a wonderful night, the students were beautifully presented on the night and it was a wonderful way to celebrate the conclusion of formal schooling for our Graduating class.
On Monday, 18 November I hosted an information night to parents detailing our building plans for stage 1 of the College site. Thank you to the parents/carers that attended. I provide some artist impressions of our stage 1 building in this newsletter (see at the bottom of this report) and will also have sketches on display in the College Office and Learning Centre throughout our project. As more information becomes available I will continue to use our Newsletter as a basis of information and also hold another parent information meeting during term 1 of 2025.
From Thursday, 5 December to Thursday, 12 December, Year 11 students will be engaging in their first Year 12 HSC assessment tasks. It is crucial that all students focus on these tasks and should be now engaged in good study routines to maximise their learning and performance in these assessment tasks. Please see the compass post from Mrs Slater regarding the exam timetable.
On Wednesday, 11 December the College will host an orientation day for Year 10 students currently attending OLM Burraneer and De La Salle Caringbah coming to St Aloysius College in 2025. This program will deliver some prerequisite skills required for Stage 6 and provide an introduction to the College. We look forward to engaging with these students for this very important program.
The culmination of the year for our Year 7 and 11 students will be the celebration of our Thanksgiving mass on Friday, 13 December. We warmly invite all year 7 and 11 parents/carers to attend this mass at St Aloysius Parish Cronulla at 9.30am on this day. Year 11 students will be dismissed at the conclusion of this mass. Year 7 students will enjoy a picnic day for the afternoon at Gunnamatta Bay.
With the completion of the final assessment tasks for Years 7 & 11 during the next few weeks, I strongly recommend parents keep time available on Monday, 16 December when the College offers parent - teacher interviews from 8.30am - 3.00pm.
Parent/student/teacher interviews are so important as sources to provide feedback and conversation to identify areas of strengths, weaknesses from the year but importantly pinpoint areas of improvement as the students move into year 8 or year 12. Bookings will be available via Compass.
As we continue to transition the College from a Years 11-12 College to a Years 7-12 Coeducational College in 2025 I would like to share with you our Senior and Middle leaders personal for the 2025 academic year.
