Unit 1&2

Term 4 has been an eventful and productive period for the Unit 1/2 VET Sport and Recreation students as they completed the first year of the Certificate III in Sports, Aquatics, and Recreation. The final unit of study focused on the Sport and Recreation industry, requiring students to enhance their knowledge of Sport, Fitness, and Recreation practices.

This culminated in a hands-on experience where students applied their theoretical learning by planning, preparing, and running their own three-day, two-night camp at Wilson’s Promontory—one of Victoria’s most breathtaking natural environments.

Working in small groups, students were tasked with planning day walks, conducting risk assessments, cooking on Trangias, setting up tents, and leading group hikes while highlighting key points of interest. This immersive experience provided valuable insights into the outdoor recreation industry and a practical application of the knowledge and skills they developed throughout the year.

Over the course of three days, the Unit 1/2 VET Sport and Recreation students immersed themselves in the natural beauty of Wilson’s Promontory, completing a series of challenging and rewarding hikes:

Day 1: A scenic walk to Squeaky Beach.

Day 2: A 9km trek to Tongue Point, with a stop at the picturesque Fairy Cove and a visit to Whiskey Bay on the return journey.

Day 3: A 9km ascent to the summit of Mount Bishop, where students enjoyed breathtaking panoramic views.

Throughout the camp, students exhibited exceptional leadership and organizational skills, planning and guiding the hikes with confidence and precision. Each walk provided unique scenery and unforgettable experiences, offering valuable opportunities for students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world context.

Congratulations to all the students for their outstanding effort, teamwork, and commitment during the camp. This achievement not only highlights their dedication but also lays a strong foundation for success as they continue the course next year.

Unit 3&4

Term 4 marked a significant milestone for our Unit 3/4 VET Sport and Recreation students as they successfully completed their Certificate III in Sport and Recreation while preparing for their end-of-year VCE examination.

This accomplishment reflects two years of dedicated effort, commitment, and resilience from all students. Each individual gave their absolute best to reach the goal of completing this nationally recognized qualification. Along the way, they gained valuable knowledge, practical skills, and memorable experiences that will undoubtedly stay with them for years to come.

Congratulations to all Unit 3/4 students on this outstanding achievement. Your hard work and perseverance have set a strong foundation for future success, and the entire school community is incredibly proud of you.
