Prep
What a fantastic time our Prep students had celebrating Italian Day this past Monday! The day was filled with excitement, learning, and plenty of fun, as the students embraced the spirit of Italy through a variety of engaging activities. Our Prep students looked wonderful in their red, green, and white attire, proudly representing the colours of the Italian flag. The school was a sea of vibrant colours as the children arrived ready for a day of celebration. The Prep students participated in fun Italian-themed activities in the classroom, learning about Italy’s culture, history, and famous landmarks. During whole school rotations, the children enjoyed a friendly game of soccer, with lots of cheering and laughter. They also tried the traditional Italian game of bocce, and while they may not have been experts, they certainly had a lot of fun!
The day wouldn’t have been complete without delicious treats! The students enjoyed Italian flag biscuits and some yummy gelato, which was the perfect way to end the fun-filled day. Italian Day was a fantastic way for our Prep class to explore a new culture, make memories, and, most importantly, have a great time together.
Maths
The Preps have been learning about Australian coins. They have sorted and identified the coins according to their attributes, such as value, size, colour, shape, and symbols. The students also selected the correct coin to purchase an item.
Inquiry
In Inquiry, the students explored the properties of different materials. Several objects were placed in a "feely bag," and students were invited to choose one and describe its properties and the material it is made from. They then sorted the objects based on their material and properties, such as whether they were made from plants, metal, fabric, or if they were flexible or rough. We also made playdough, and the students observed how different materials can combine and completely change.
