Principal's Report
Tim Furphy, Principal
Hi everyone, please see below for reminders and important information as we come towards the end of Term 4. I look forward to seeing everyone at assembly on Friday to celebrate what's been happening at NPS. Just a word of warning, Year 6 sleepover being tonight you may see some sleepy people just getting through to the 3:30pm bell (teachers included!).
I recently met with the Newham CFA and held discussions with members of the Newham Hall Committee. We're hoping to decorate our front fence with a festive display of lights and ornaments to light up our town and community. If you have any old lights in the back of a cupboard, or collecting dust in the shed we'd gladly take them off your hands to help us add to the comunity spirit. Students here will be involved in creating decorations when the time comes, I'm really looking forward to this coming together!
After the success of last year, and with our newly learnt skills on bikes we'll be doing our tour De Newham on Wednesday 4th December (10:00am-12:00pm). For those new to our school, this is a time dedicated to put our skills to the test riding around our local community and neighbourhood. We'll take students on their bike around Newham, around local streets and up to the Hanging Rock Winery for morning Tea. For the little ones, and those that may choose not to participate will simply go for a neighbourhood walk finishing at the park for morning tea and a play. This will be a total of around 3-4km, with some dirt/gravel roads meaning those with training wheels and at the beginning of thier riding journey will find it tricky. If you'd like to come along for a ride and be a part of it, please let Tim know. We'd love to have you along.
Being a small school community brings many challenges when organising class structures for the following year. Siblings and friendships to name a couple, as well as consistent curriculum delivery for all year levels when/if they may be split across multiple classes. We will remain at three classes, each in the middle space like this year. The three classes will be:
Recently we had the final "count" of money collected from our Trivia night. Hopefully you've heard by now but in case you haven't, a whopping $11,448.56 was raised for our school. I will be letting our community know shortly about where we will be spending this money. This is such a massive achievement for our little school, a HUGE thanks again to all those that contributed.
Staff are finalising assessment results and preparing this information for the final school report for 2024. This will be made available to families via Compass the last week of school.
The time is drawing nearer to say a final farewell to our year 6's. Please look out for Graduation information updates via Compass. It is exciting for the year 6's to have an extra special day out and about with Rai, as well as our own farewell afternoon and evening.
