Walcha Central School hosted the 2024 Literary Festival. Students joined authors and illustrators for this event.
K-6 spent time workshopping with Author Anna Flemberg and Illustrator Gus Gordon.
On a day when we had our lowest numbers for the year we found a bower from a bowerbird in the garden near the toilet block. We then focused our learning around the bowerbird. Out of curiosity, before we left for the day we put a few blue things around the playground to see what the bower might take to decorate his bower. He picked up a few of our treasures and used them to decorate his bower and try and attract a mate. Later he even stole a blue christmas bauble from the decorated Christmas tree!!
Elsie - My friends and I went and saw a real life bower bird flying in the sky. It has a nest in our school garden.
Joey - Once upon a time a bower bird that loved blue things and one day he fell from the sky and hit the ground.
Elsie - I saw a bower bird in our school garden. Over at the side of the garden.
Lindsay - Today my class and I went and found a bowerbird's nest and we thought that we could maybe make a little treasure hunt of blue things for the birds bower.

Niangala students, lead by Chaise and Valerie, hosted their 2024 Presentation Day. Special guests for the day were Mrs Annette Brown, Mr Matt Hobbs, Mrs Gail Brazel and Mr Neil Alley, as well as parents and extended family.
Presentation day is a terrific way to end a year of learning, all of the children were presented with a book award. They presented a play that had been written by the combined student voice of Niangala Public School - the alphabet was performed with gusto and humour.
This year we were able to recognise Mrs Brown for her time spent as Teaching Principal at Niangala Public School, she was presented with a beautiful photo book full of memories that had been put together by Mrs Miller.
Students have commenced 7 days of swimming for their 2024 intensive swimming and water safety program. Having the bus has made it very easy for all of the children to participate in this worthwhile program.
Thank you to staff for supervising at the pool. We have combined with Yarrowitch and Woolbrook schools.
The children have been instructed by Mrs Brown , Mrs Broadbent, Bella Crawford, Hannah Dunn and Holly Crawford.
On Friday 13 December, Niangala students joined Yarrowitch in Walcha for the 2024 NECOM Chamber music in schools program. This event was held at the Walcha Rugby Club. A big thank you to them for allowing us to use the venue for no cost, we are very lucky to live in a community that supports our small schools.
The music was amazing!
Students then had a treat at Cafe Graze where they enjoyed a milkshake before heading to McHatten Park where they did some sketching and discussed the sculptures.
A full day was finished off at the pool for swimming.
