Prep students have been joyfully crafting Christmas ornaments using clay. After shaping and decorating their pieces, the ornaments were left to dry before being fired in the kiln. The following week, students added the finishing touches by painting their ornaments with vibrant Christmas colours.
This fortnight, the Year 1/2 students created charming Christmas trees out of clay using the coil technique. After carefully shaping their trees, they topped them with a star and had the option to add decorative baubles. The following week, they painted their creations with acrylic paints, resulting in beautiful and festive trees.
Year 3/4 students wrapped up their construction and modeling unit with a free-choice clay project. They could select one of three techniques—slab, coil, or pinch pot—to design and create their unique pieces. Additionally, they revisited clay portraits made earlier in the term, bringing them to life with vibrant paints. Their efforts have produced stunning, colourful works of art they can be proud of.
The Year 5/6 students are diligently completing their sewing portrait projects. After stitching the face onto fabric, they enhanced their pieces by adding facial features with a variety of materials. Finally, they personalised their work by sewing their names into the background. These beautifully crafted portraits are now ready for display in the 5/6 area, showcasing the students’ creativity and hard work.
