This week is Exhibition Week and today, families and friends were invited to come along and view the displays of student learning. Thank you to everyone who came out to join us and to all staff and students for their hard work in preparing the displays. If you were unable to catch the displays this afternoon, families can sneak a last look tomorrow morning, before assembly.
Over the term, students in Years 3-4 have been exploring food production and, during the last two weeks, we have been fortunate to have some of our parents sharing their specialised knowledge with our students. Many thanks to Al who last week came to speak to students about Bee Keeping, and also to Juliette, who gave two days this week to guide students through the process of sourdough bread production. In both cases, the final product was delicious and our students have gained some valuable new knowledge and skills!
A big thank you to Mountain Monk Brewery and everyone who supported our Friday night community raffle. $475 was raised on the night, which was a great outcome. Thank you also to those families who ordered a pudding through the Christmas Pudding Fundraiser, which has raised approximately $300. All funds raised will go towards the purchase of some much needed resources.
On Tuesday, we held our second visit with students from the kinder, as part of the Prep transition program. Next week, our formal transition program will commence, with students attending from 10am-12pm.
Tomorrow, swimming lessons will commence for all classes. Families are asked to please ensure they have provided consent online, via Compass. To assist with organisation, where possible, students are encouraged to wear their bathers under their school uniform. All students are required to wear school uniform when not swimming, and will require a rashie, swim shorts/bathers, goggles, sunscreen, thongs, towel, and underwear to change into after swimming. Our program will run over the following days: Fri 22/11, Mon 25/11, Wed 27/11, Mon 2/12, Wed 4/12 and Fri 6/12.
Led by our very own Rubik's Cube expert, Jeremy, plans are afoot to start our first Rubik's Cube Club (RCC)! To enable anyone to join, we are seeking donations of unwanted Rubik's Cubes. The club is open to everyone who would like to build their ability to solve this amazing cube, while also strengthening other skills like concentration, reflex and congitive function. Students are welcome to bring their own Rubik's Cube along to the club, as long as they have parent permission to do so. Any students, staff or parents who would like to join the club are invited to meet Jeremy in the under-cover area during Tuesday lunchtimes.
In recent weeks, our Fairy Garden has been welcoming some new residents. Many thanks to Steve Gardiner and Amanda for sourcing a range of fairy homes and friends to inspire creative play in the garden. According to one local fairy expert, 'we are inviting lots of fairies to live in the garden along with other special people'.
This term, families with a child enrolled in a government school from Prep to Year 12 in 2025 will receive the one-off $400 School Saving Bonus. The $400 School Saving Bonus provides families with support for education-related costs, such as school activities and/or school uniforms and textbooks.
The School Saving Bonus is not available for full-fee international students, home schooled students, TAFE students and students attending kindergarten in 2025.
