Major Events Calendar

Students and families are reminded that they can visit the BSC website calendar to check the dates of major school events and term dates.

Compass

BSC uses Compass Student Management software as its primary communication platform for families.

All students and parents/carers receive login details for Compass. It is important that parents/carers check their Compass Dashboard regularly, and should also ensure that their child is doing the same so that they can access timely reminders and newsfeed posts.

Only in exceptional situations will the college issue paper newsletters or notices to parents/carers and/or students to impart information.

It is vital that families engage with the Compass system to be sure that they are well informed around school issues.

       Compass Dashboard

  • Important and timely notifications will show on the student and parent/carer Compass Dashboard including requests for excursion permissions/payments, fee contributions and school absence approval requests. If these notifications are not actioned, the student may be ineligible to attend an event or excursion, or in the case of unexplained school absences, staff will need to contact you directly to clarify the issue.
  • Student timetables, reports, chronicles and attendance information can also be found via the dashboard.
  • Parents/Carers can identify and contact staff via email directly from Compass.
  • Parents/Carers can view chronicle entries that relate to their child, including positive comments and recognition notes.

      Compass Newsfeed

  • Staff will use Compass Newsfeed (which appears on the right hand side of your Compass Dashboard) to communicate details around excursions, PTS Interviews, Student Free Days and other more class-, cocurricular- or year level-specific information and events. This information may also be flagged to students via Teams class channels.
  • Compass Favourites (the star icon on your Compass dashboard) will also link you to a variety of resources including curriculum and assessment information, the Student/Parent/Carer Handbook and Canteen lunch order procedures.

       Using Compass

  • If you are new to Compass management software (need a refresher!) we recommend you visit the Compass Users' Guide and contact the General Office staff if you experience any difficulty or lose access to the system.
  • We strongly encouragestudents, parents and carers to download and install the Compass App to their mobile device for ease and convenience, to ensure that they receive important notifications at the earliest opportunity. Be aware that some functionality is lost when using the app, and so some resources can only be sourced via the laptop version of Compass.

Curriculum Website

The BSC Curriculum website is accessible to students and families, and describes the current curriculum by Year level.

This site is used to investigate details around the subjects taught at each year level and is especially useful when making elective subject selections for Years 9 & 10 and VCE, and making decisions around learning pathways.

Transition Website

For prospective students  and their families, the Transition website offers information specific to entering Year 7 in 2025.

It includes Dates to Remember, information on purchase of devices, links to curriculum detail, uniform information and details about general life and processes at BSC (Quick reference answers to FAQs).

Microsoft Teams for BSC

This platform is used for direct communication between teachers and their classes.

Staff will regularly communicate in Teams regarding class work and activities,  and students can submit assignments etc electronically to their teachers via this platform.
