LEARNING SPACE 2 SENIORS

This term children in Clinic 3 have been exploring the role of tone, mood and bias within a text and how this impacts our understanding as readers.

Children read the story ‘Voices in the Park’ by Anthony Browne which is about a range of characters and seeing life through their eyes and from their perspectives.

The children were asked to choose a voice and reflect on the tone, mood and bias from that character.

GRADE 5 BIKE EDUCATION – CYCLING SKILLS AND SIMULATIONS

Next week on Friday December 6th students will have 2 Bike Ed sessions. One session will be before 1st lunch and the 2nd session after 1st lunch. They will remain on school grounds completing cycling skills and simulations.

Students will need to bring their bikes and helmets to school on Friday December 6th. We remind students that if they are riding to school they need to wear their helmets and they will need to dismount their bikes and walk on school grounds. If parents are dropping off bicycles at school, they can remain in the Bike Shed for the duration of the program.

If it is raining heavily in the morning students do not need to bring their bikes to school.

DIVISIONAL SWIMMING 2025

Divisional Swimming is early next year. As our District does not have a District Swimming competition I asked Casey Race to identify students that would be able to swim 50 metres rapidly.

Students can nominate two strokes which they would like to compete in: freestyle, backstroke, butterfly or breast stroke. Students will then need to be timed by their swimming instructor over the holidays completing 50 metres in the nominated strokes. These times will then be placed into a District document where the other 9 schools will also enter their students. Unfortunately only one student can be entered for the district for each age group and stroke. The fastest student will then have the opportunity to compete at Divisional Swimming.

If your child has been nominated and I have spoken to them, please complete the Operoo notification indicating if your child is interested in competing, indicating the 2 strokes they would like to compete in. Please note students can only compete in 2 events and a relay if we have enough students.

I will then send further paperwork home for student times in their nominated stroke which can be completed over the holidays.

If your child was not nominated by Casey Race and you feel that they are capable of swimming 50 metres rapidly, please contact me to discuss.

Any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
