Angora Show Team Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show 2024

On the last Thursday of the school holidays 7 students from Narrandera High School travelled to Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show to present their Angora Goats to the Judge Mr Nick Gorrie. After a frenzied display in the mixed breeds show arena, Lucy Gooden was awarded Champion Parador with Alexa Appleby securing Reserve Champion Parador. Lucy and Alexa were then joined by Charlie Church, Isabella Clifford, Shelby Clifford along with support from Maddie Clifford and Mary Teao, in presenting their animals and fleeces for Judging. The students secured Reserve Champion Buck and Doe, first place in a pair of Doe’s and a team of three Angoras. Many other placing were secured along with several firsts in the Kid mohair classes.

The students next challenge is at the Dubbo National Merino Show in late August where they will present their two teams of merino wethers that they have been preparing for the past 5 months. In this competition they will be up against over 60 schools who received their wethers at the same time as we did. At the moment the boys are doing well with Team 1 putting on 196g/day liveweight, averaging 17.8 micron fleece fibre diameter and 60kg liveweight. A very competitive position to be in at this stage.
