Canberra Excursion 1-2 August (PACER)
Students from Year 5 have recently undertaken, an education tour of the national capital. Students were be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $30.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
Meeting With Teachers
Teachers are always very happy to meet with parents to discuss students' learning, social and emotional learning and behaviour, even if this is a quick 'check in'. We do ask however that these check-ins and conversations are pre-arranged.
Before and after school each day, teachers are either planning, supervising students to ensure safety or preparing for the next day and cannot give the focus or attention required to respond at these times.
If you would like to meet with a teacher please either email or call the school office. The teacher will then call the parent or reply to the email on that same day. Thank you for your support with this.
100 Days of Kindergarten
Congratulations to our Kindergarten students for completing 100 days of school! Kindergarten students celebrated this very special milestone by wearing mufti, enjoying a delicious cupcake and wearing party hats! It was a delightful opportunity to commemorate the growth that all of the students have made over this period of time.
We are very proud!
Important Road Safety Updates
Banners have been placed on our school gates to remind us of safe road rules around our school. Thank you to all parents for abiding by these rules for the safety of our students and the wider community.
Bullying No Way: National week of action
St Joseph’s will be participating in the Bullying No Way: National week of action on Friday 16 August 2024.
Bullying No Way is a commitment being made by thousands of schools and supporters across the country. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to bullying prevention. It gives us an opportunity to connect with students, staff and school communities to implement workable solutions to prevent bullying.
The new hero colour for the campaign is purple – symbolising peace, strength and empowerment to take a stand against bullying behaviour.
Students are welcome to wear a ‘pop of purple’ which involves wearing a purple accessory to school on Friday 16 August 2024. This may include a purple ribbon, badge, hat or socks.
The theme for this year's campaign is ‘Everyone belongs’. This theme highlights the importance of creating a sense of belonging and inclusion for students. On the day students will participate in some webinars and class activities.
For more information about Bullying No Way Week and bullying prevention, visit the Bullying No Way website.
