Brentwood Tree Day

On Friday the 26th of July, Brentwood celebrated Tree day! The now much anticipated annual event saw members of the Green Team planting trees along Scotchman’s creek and in the school grounds. With the assistance of the Friends of Scotchman’s Creek and Valley Reserve and Monash Council, the day got off to a flying start, with students planting 1,500 trees in only 90 minutes! This is a brand-new record for our team! Members of the Friends of Scotchman’s creek also talked to us about the importance of looking after our waterways.

Back at school, we celebrated the morning’s hard work with a barbeque lunch, followed by planting even more trees near the front entrance of the school. The Sustainability Captains gave a presentation to the green team on the local native species that they help plant, and how plantings like these helps the entire ecosystem thrive.

Well done to everyone who participated in this event and thank you for making it a huge success!

Rotary Luncheon

On the 24th of July, a few members of the Brentwood Green Team got the opportunity to attend the Rotary’s Sustainability Luncheon, after coming runners up for their School Sustainability Award. The event was held at the RACV City Club, and students got to enjoy a fully carbon neutral meal and hear from the Rotary club’s guest speakers on issues such as the future of energy in Victoria. We also met a few famous faces including Adam Da Silva, who appeared as a guest chef on MasterChef!
