Central Australia Camp

by Ms. Shareen Bottrell, Assistant Principal

Forty Year 11 students enjoyed their trip to Central Australia over the June school holidays. They spent nine days visiting Uluru, Watarrka, Alice Springs, and Coober Pedy. The students reported having a wonderful time immersing themselves in the natural and cultural wonders of Uluru and Kata Tjuta, where they observed spectacular geological formations.

They delved into an authentic Aboriginal cultural experience, learning about traditional food, plants, and art. The itinerary included visits to the MacDonnell Ranges and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The tour concluded in Coober Pedy, where students took a guided tour of the town's famous opals and underground dwellings.

Teachers were very impressed with the behaviour and values that our students exhibited during the trip. The tour guide also praised our students, noting how wonderful they were. They represented Box Hill High School at the highest standard.
