School Council Nomindations
There is one final School Council position still to be filled. This is a wonderful opportunity for a student to take on a leadership role and help represent the voices and ideas of their peers.
If you are interested in nominating yourself, please see the office to collect a nomination form.
Senior Badge Presentation
This week, we proudly held our Senior Badge Presentation, a special event that celebrates leadership, commitment, and the journey ahead. It was a meaningful occasion for everyone involved, marking an important step for our 2026 leaders as they step into their new roles.
I was delighted to be joined by Nick McGowam MP, who helped present the badges to our 2026 leaders. His presence made the event even more significant, and it was wonderful to have his support in recognising the dedication and hard work these students have shown.

Let's Talk Leadership Day 2026
Students from MPRPS were joined by students from Kerrimuir PS and Parkhill PS to take part in a special leadership learning day. Throughout the day, students explored what it means to be an effective and positive leader within their school community.
They examined inspiring leadership quotes and discussed what they mean in real life situations. Students also learned about positive role models and identified the qualities that make someone a strong and respectful leader. Together, they shared ideas about how to confidently lead school assemblies and how to plan meaningful changes that can make a positive difference in their schools.
The day provided a wonderful opportunity for students to collaborate, build connections, and develop their leadership skills. To finish off the event, everyone enjoyed a hot dog lunch and shared icy poles.
Three Way Conferences
This week, we held our three-way conferences, bringing together teachers, families, and students to reflect on how the school year has started and to look ahead to 2026. These meetings created a valuable opportunity for open and meaningful conversations, where everyone had a voice in discussing progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
Students shared their experiences from the start of the year, highlighting what they are proud of and where they feel challenged. Teachers provided insights into academic performance, classroom engagement, and social development, while families offered important perspectives and support from home. Together, we celebrated successes, identified next steps, and set clear, achievable goals for 2026.
These collaborative conferences help ensure that students feel supported both at school and at home. By working as a team, we are building strong partnerships that will guide our students toward continued growth and success throughout the year.
Child Safe Standards at MPRPS
Victoria’s Child Safe Standards are a set of mandatory requirements to protect children and young people from harm and abuse. APPS has a zero-tolerance policy for child abuse, indicating a firm commitment to taking decisive action against any form of abuse or neglect. Our policies, practices and procedures ensure we comply with these Standards and are available to view on our website.
There are 11 Standards, which include requirements such as:
- involving families and communities in organisations’ efforts to keep children and young people safe
- a greater focus on safety for Aboriginal children and young people
- managing the risk of child abuse in online environments.
Lunar New Year
Our school was awash in a sea of red and vibrant traditional dress as we celebrated our very first Lunar New Year together. Our gate and reception area decorations symbolising good fortune and happiness, and the excitement was felt in every classroom. Students and staff embraced the spirit of the occasion, wearing traditional attire that reflected the richness of Chinese heritage.
For our community, this celebration marked our first meaningful dive into Chinese culture. Throughout the day, students explored the history and customs of Lunar New Year, learning about the significance of the color red, and the traditions of family reunions and festive foods.
As we welcomed the Year of the Horse, we also embraced the values of unity, renewal, and hope that Lunar New Year represents. It was a wonderful beginning to what we hope will become a cherished annual tradition in our school community.
