Year 2

Grade 2 Update
We’ve had a fantastic start to the year in Grade 2, and it has been wonderful to see how positively the students have settled into their new routines. They are showing great enthusiasm for learning, building friendships, and taking pride in their classroom responsibilities.
In English, students have been learning about different sentence types and practising how to expand their sentences by adding more detail. This has helped them make their writing clearer, more interesting, and more expressive.
In Mathematics, we have been exploring numbers to 1000, with a strong focus on place value. Students have been reading, ordering, and representing numbers in different ways. This week, we also began our learning in statistics, where students are starting to collect and talk about data.
In Social and Emotional Learning, we have been focusing on emotions and developing a deeper understanding of our school values. Students have been engaging in thoughtful discussions and activities that support kindness, respect, and positive relationships.
A highlight of the week has been the start of swimming lessons. The students have been having a blast in the pool and have impressed us with their confidence, skills, and willingness to give everything a go.
