⚡ Girl Power 2026 – Explore a Career in the Electrical Power Industry

Are you a young woman in Years 10, 11 or 12 curious about a career in the electrical industry?

 

Energex is launching its Girl Power 2026 Program and inviting students to attend an upcoming online information session to discover what a future in the Electrical Power Industry could look like.

 

This is your opportunity to hear directly from women working in the field and learn how to take the first step toward an apprenticeship.

 

📅 Online Information Sessions

Tuesday 3 March – 10:00am–11:00am

Wednesday 4 March – 1:00pm–2:00pm

Thursday 5 March – 6:30pm–7:30pm (Dedicated Student & Parent Session)

 

💬 What You’ll Learn

  • Real stories from current female apprentices and tradies
  • An overview of trade pathways available across Ergon Network and Energex
  • A step-by-step guide to the application process
  • What recruiters look for in an apprentice
  • Insight into aptitude testing and assessment requirements

 

🔧 What Happens Next?

Students who demonstrate strong interest may be invited to attend Immersion Days — hands-on, face-to-face experiences where participants:

  • Explore tools and equipment
  • Participate in teamwork activities
  • Experience real operational environments

 

These sessions provide valuable industry exposure and help build confidence before applying.

📚 NAPLAN 2026 – Year 7 & 9

NAPLAN testing for Year 7 and Year 9 will start on Wednesday, 11 March. The full schedule of tests will be shared once finalised.

 

Important: Students must have access to their laptops for testing. If there are any concerns with a device, please ask your child to see the IT Technician at school before testing begins.

Upcoming Sporting Trials – Student Information

A range of school sport trials are taking place over the coming weeks. Students who are interested in nominating must see Mr Tuckey in the Q-Block staffroom to discuss the trial process and collect the required paperwork. Students will not be permitted to attend trials without approved nomination forms.

 

Trial dates and deadlines:

  • Tue 3 Mar – 10–19 Years Boys and Girls Swimming (Met East) Nominations due Wed 12 Feb 

     

Please be aware only paper nominations will be accepted. Students are encouraged to nominate early to avoid missing deadlines.
