Year 12 VCE Retreat

Our Year 12 Retreat at La Trobe University in Bundoora was such a valuable experience and a great way to start our final year. We took part in wellbeing presentations that helped us think about managing stress and staying balanced throughout Year 12. We also heard from past students Sam and Sajani, who shared their study tips and honest advice about what worked for them. Their presentations were really informative and gave us practical strategies we can actually use this year. A highlight was guest speaker Joel Sardi, who spoke about overcoming challenges and pushing through difficult times. His story was inspiring and reminded us to stay resilient and focused on our goals.

We were also lucky enough to tour the university and complete a scavenger hunt around the campus, which gave us a taste of what uni life could be like next year. It made everything feel more real and gave us extra motivation to work hard. The trivia and movie night was a great way to relax and have some fun together as a cohort. Overall, the retreat brought us closer as a year level and helped us feel more prepared for the year ahead. A big thank you to all the teachers who attended and supported us, and especially to Mrs Kemp for organising such a meaningful and enjoyable experience.

Year 12 Welcome Breakfast

The Year 12 Welcome Breakfast was a wonderful celebration to mark the beginning of our students’ final year at Hazel Glen College. Year 12 students and their parents came together with staff to acknowledge this significant milestone and the exciting year ahead.

College Principal, Mr Anthony Stockwell, addressed students and families, speaking about the journey that has led to this moment and the shared commitment required for a successful and fulfilling final year. His message encouraged students to embrace the opportunities ahead while supporting one another as a cohort.

A highlight of the morning was the presentation of the Year 12 jackets. Students were individually recognised as they walked through a smoke machine in the PAC, creating a memorable and symbolic entrance into their final year.

Students also received a surprise letter from Mr Stockwell, written by their parents. The letter reflected on their journey to the beginning of Year 12 and expressed heartfelt wishes for the year ahead. It was a deeply meaningful moment that drew on many emotions and reinforced the strong sense of community that surrounds our students.

We look forward to supporting the Class of 2026 as they make the most of their final year at Hazel Glen College.
