Principal's Report

The beginning of this newsletter is writing by Oliver Prack, Principal for the day last week!
Last week we celebrated our Saint - St Leonard. We gathered together as a school community for a special liturgy to acknowledge the person behind our school. Below is some information of St Leonard.
Who is St.Leonard?
St. Leonard was born on the 20th December and then died in 1751. He was born in Northern Western Italy. St Leonard's full name is Paolo Girolamo and he was canonized as a saint on June 29 1867.
St Leonard lived a life of helping the community and he was a popular Franciscan missionary preacher in 18th-century in Italy which lead to many conversations in his spiritual life.
Some facts and things that happened in his life:
- When he was 13, he was placed with his uncle Agostino to study for a career as a physician, but when the boy decided against medicine, his uncle disowned him.
- He then began to study at the Jesuit College in Rome. St. Leonard's college was called Presbyterian Girls' College before it became co-educational in 1972 and was renamed, it is currently named St. Leonard's college.
- People in his family include his father, Domenico Casanova, a ship captain, and his mother, Anna Maria Benza.
- He also had an uncle named Agostino, he had no siblings
Last Wednesday on his feast day we are reminded that, just like St. Leonard of Port Maurice, every person has an important job to do in this world. His special work was being the bold 'Voice' that brought thousands to God. Likewise, we each have our own unique calling—and whether through big actions or small, everyday kindnesses, we each can make a difference in our world.

Principal for the day
Thank you everyone for your patience with the newsletter last week - time just got away from us!
A few acknowledgements from last week:
- Thank you for all our P-2 families for attending the Family Faith night focusing on the season of Advent. Mr Adaman and our classroom teachers lead a lovely evening keeping in mind the importance of coming together as a family, slowing down and reflecting on the core meaning of Christmas. I do hope you have enjoyed your take home activities and I am sure they will feature as center pieces on the Christmas table!
What a great day we had for Colour Run! A massive thank you to Mr Stokes for organising such a wonderful event for our students and wider school community. The energy was high and everyone brought a great vibe to the afternoon - thank you to the PFA for organising the colour powder for us!
Coming up:
Tomorrow is Step Up day - this will come with a mixture of emotions. I would like to acknowledge the time and effort that has been put into creating class lists. While there are many factors that go into this process we absolutely do our very best to make sure everyone is happy and that each student placement is in their best interest. We understand that tomorrow may come with disappointment and we appreciate your support to work through this with your children.
Looking forward to the final days of the year with you all.
Alyce
