Celebrating Our Positive Behaviour Journey: A Year of Respect, Resilience & Responsibility:
At our School, we are committed to creating a learning environment where every student feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed. One of the key ways we achieve this is through School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB)—a proactive, evidence-based framework focused on teaching and reinforcing the behaviours that help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Rather than responding to challenges with consequences alone, SWPB emphasises teaching and acknowledging positive behaviour. By providing clear expectations, consistent routines, and meaningful recognition, we help students understand what successful behaviour looks like and encourage them to demonstrate it every day.
Our Values in Action:
This year, our school’s core values—Respect, Resilience and Responsibility—have continued to guide our community. These values shape the way students engage with their learning, interact with others, and contribute to a positive school culture.
We are proud to see these values not just spoken about but actively lived by our students.
The Tech Token Rollout:
One of the strongest indicators of our positive behaviour success this year has been the introduction of the Tech Token. Staff awarded a Tech Token whenever a student demonstrated one of our key responsibilities, whether through consistent effort, positive choices, respectful interactions, or responsible behaviour with digital technology.
Students could then visit the Token Shop throughout the year and exchange their tokens for a reward of their choice—turning positive behaviour into something visible, meaningful, and exciting.
This initiative has been a resounding success. Nearly 5,000 Tech Tokens were awarded this year—meaning there were almost 5,000 moments where students demonstrated our school values in real, tangible ways. Each token represents a choice to act responsibly, treat others with respect, or persevere with resilience.
Final Token Shop Date:
As we approach the end of the year, a reminder that next Friday, the 12th, will be the final day for students to redeem their Tech Tokens. Please note that tokens do not carry over into the new year, so we encourage all students to visit the Token Shop and enjoy the rewards of their hard work.
Through SWPB and the dedication of our staff and students, we are building a school community grounded in positivity, consistency, and shared values. Here’s to continuing our strong culture of resilience, responsibility, and respect in the year ahead.
TEXTBOOKS NEXT YEAR:
As the Department of Victoria implements Curriculum 2.0 across all domains in 2026, KTHS has reviewed our learning resources to ensure they best support our students and families. In an effort to reduce costs for parents, we are pleased to advise that students in Years 7–10 will not be required to purchase textbooks for 2026. As a result, parents will be unable to sell or supply second-hand textbooks for Years 7–10.
Please note that Year 11 and Year 12 students will still be required to purchase textbooks for their VCE/VPC studies. We are currently finalising the 2026 Curriculum and elective allocations. Booklists will be distributed once student course allocations have been confirmed in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work to provide high-quality, accessible learning for all students.
