Grade 1 News

We have had a wonderful two weeks in Grade 1!
In week 6, we visited Galen College to watch The Wizard of Oz performance. The children did such a fantastic job walking to and from the venue and showed excellent respect and engagement while enjoying the show. Well done, Grade 1!
In Maths, we have now finished our unit on Shape.
Students explored a wide range of 2D and 3D shapes and worked confidently to identify and describe their features. Students loved building their different shape towers and explaining their reasoning for choices.
In Religion, we have begun our unit on Advent.
Students have been learning about the important parts of the Advent story and taking time to reflect on the birth of Jesus as we move towards Christmas.
As we near the end of our Sounds and Words program, students will be reviewing different sounds and exploring a range of stories to help build their writing skills.
Students have also been very busy preparing for their end-of-year concert piece, “Donkey Donkey.” Practicing this at home would be greatly appreciated.
A reminder to please return library books and students won’t be borrowing from now on.
Thank you for your continued support!
