Grade 5 News

What a busy two weeks we have had!

The Grade 5's headed to Galen to watch their junior production of The Wizard of Oz

It was a fantastic day, with students showing great respect and enthusiasm.

Last week, we wrapped up our swimming program for the year.

All students demonstrated determination and a positive attitude as they worked to improve their skills. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying their time in the pool while continuing to develop their abilities.

In English, we have finished studying The Last Bear, and it has been great to see how students’ thinking has deepened, particularly around human impacts on animals.

Using this knowledge, students have created persuasive letters to the Arctic Council, urging for stronger action to protect polar bears from extinction.

In Maths, we have completed our units on percentages, decimals and fractions, where students practised converting between the three.

We are now learning how to estimate answers to addition and subtraction problems using rounding and will soon move on to estimation with multiplication and division.

We also have several transition days coming up, giving the Grade 5s the chance to experience their first days as the senior students of the school:

  • Thursday 27th November, 10:00–11:00

  • Monday 1st December, 11:30–12:15

  • Tuesday 9th December – Statewide Transition Day
