Our Stage 2 and 3 students have been enjoying their surf school excursions, where they've been learning important water safety skills while having fun at the beach. These excursions have offered hands-on lessons about ocean awareness, how to stay safe in and around the water, and the importance of respecting the beach environment. We have one final surf school excursion organised for next week, and students are excited to make the most of this wonderful learning experience!

Year 2 students have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Water Safety Program this week at Lane Cove Pool. Throughout the sessions, our young learners engaged in fun and educational activities designed to teach them a variety of important water safety skills. They learned how to recognise potential hazards around different bodies of water, understand safe behaviours when near or in water, and develop confidence in basic water survival techniques. The program focused on empowering students with practical knowledge to keep themselves and others safe, whether at the beach, pool, or backyard. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and attentiveness of the students as they practised these vital safety lessons in a supportive and hands-on environment.

The Student Representative Council (SRC) is excited to announce a mufti day on Thursday, 11 December, to raise money for Stewart House. Students are invited to come dressed in casual clothes for a gold coin donation. Please remember that for safety reasons, all students must wear covered shoes and bring a hat on the day.
Stewart House provides respite programs for children from public schools across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory who are in need of extra care and support. The program offers children a chance to enjoy a safe, healthy environment where they can relax, build confidence, and receive important health checks.
All funds raised will go directly to supporting Stewart House and their valuable work. Let’s come together to make a difference and help children in need!

Last night, Thursday, 4 December, Yanika A from Waratah 2 had the privilege of performing with her senior Thai Music Group at the Thai National Day Ceremony held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney. Yanika demonstrated great skill and dedication during the performance. The event was also attended by Willoughby Councillor for Chatswood West Ward and CPS parent, Michelle Chuang.

From 10 December 2025, age-restricted social media platforms will have to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under the age of 16 from creating or keeping an account. This important change reflects growing community concern about the impact of early social media use on children's mental health, wellbeing and development.
Research shows that social media can expose children to unrealistic comparisons, online pressure and harmful content long before they are emotionally ready to manage it. While regulation is a positive step forward, real safety begins at home. Families continue to play the most powerful role in helping children build confidence, resilience and awareness in the digital world.
These new regulations provide an opportunity to talk openly with your child about their online experiences and what these changes mean for them. It's also a chance to review family technology habits, reinforce healthy routines, and explore age-appropriate ways for young people to connect, learn and express themselves.
This Special Report explains what the new laws mean in practice and offers practical guidance to help families prepare for the upcoming changes.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this Special Report, and as always, we welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.
