Secondhand Uniform Pop-up NEXT WEEK
Tuesday 27 May and Wednesday 28 May | Farrall Centre Upper Foyer
HUGE Variety of Items at Bargain Prices!The Parent Year Group Reps are assisting the School in organising a Secondhand Uniform Pop-up, to be held from:
- Tuesday 27 May - 3pm to 4pm
- Wednesday 28 May - 8am to 9.30am (PLUS Coffee & Hot Chocolate from VET, see below)
All proceeds from the uniform sales are going towards The Friends' Fellowship. This needs-based scholarship will enable a student, whose family can least afford it, to access a Friends' education next year.
We have received a huge amount of donations, thank you to everyone who dropped uniform items. We are now only accepting donations of:
- Rugby Sports Jumpers
- Soft Shell Jackets
- Blazers
- Winter Skirts
- Grey Trousers
- Summer Dress
Could we please ask that uniform donations be delivered to Main Reception - 23 Commercial Road, North Hobart. Donated uniform needs to be delivered clean and in fair condition. For more information please contact Emma Gilligan.
VET Coffee and Hot Chocolate Fundraiser
Wednesday 28 May
The VET team and students are also kindly donating their time and services from 8am to 9am in The Farrall Centre Kiosk. All proceeds from the sale of hot drinks will be donated to The Friends' Fellowship so please make sure to drop by.
Student Giving Day
Wednesday 28 May
Next Wednesday the School will be celebrating the Student Giving Day for the annual giving program - Friends Together. This is an opportunity for students to participate in meaningful collective action for the benefit of others. This will be a plain clothes day for Primary School and Senior School and a Pyjama Day for the Middle School, by gold coin donation. There will be a variety of activities being held on each campus including bake sales, hot chocolates and a collaborative project of bunting making.
Please make sure to pack a gold coin donation for your child.
Friends Together 2025
With the School’s throughline this year of Active Hope, we hope you can consider supporting the School’s annual giving program, Friends Together. This year we are focusing our efforts on raising money for The Friends’ Fellowship, to enable a student, whose family can least afford the fees, to access a Friends' education next year. There are also options to contribute to building and facilities developments, and information literacy through the School libraries. There will be multiple activities happening over the coming weeks which will contribute to these funds. Information about these are below.

Sings and Strings Concert
Tuesday 27 May | The Farrall Centre from 6.00-7.30pm
This annual concert is a wonderful opportunity for audiences to appreciate the depth of hard work and talent across our school strings program, choirs and vocal ensembles. Students from Years 3 to 12 will perform a range of works in our many string and vocal ensembles, supported by our dedicated music teachers, tutors and accompanists.
All welcome, no ticketing required.
Marimba Concert
Tuesday 3 June | The Farrall Centre from 6.00-7.30pm
Did you know that the word ‘marimba’ means ‘Wood that sings’ in the African Bantu language? What a great way of describing the wonderful sounds our students from Year 3 - 12 are able to make in our Marimba Ensembles. Students have been working with our Marimba teachers and tutors and we would love to invite you to come along to our annual Marimba Concert to enjoy the work of our ensembles.

Join us for a magical time as our talented Years 5-8 students bring Matilda the Musical JR. to life on stage! Based on the beloved book by Roald Dahl, this inspiring story follows the extraordinary Matilda as she discovers her inner strength, courage and determination.

Quaker Meetings for Worship
All members of The Friends’ School community are welcome to attend our Meeting for Worship any Sunday from 10.00am, closing about 11.00am, with morning tea available afterwards.
Children are always welcome and there is a Children’s Meeting held concurrently with the Meeting for Worship. They learn about Quaker values through a range of interesting and fun activities. Around 10.50am the children join the Meeting for Worship, settling into the gathered Meeting for the last 10 minutes, usually sitting with their parents.

Thursday Morning Meeting for Worship
Members of The Friends' School community are welcome to attend a short Meeting for Worship held each Thursday morning during term time, starting at 7.40am. Just come quietly in when you can and join us until 8.20am in the Hobart Quaker Meeting House, which is located just below the Middle School Office on Boa Vista Road.
Community Yoga
Wednesdays 7.45am - 8.15am
An inspiring way to start your day with energising movement, focused breathing and a moment for relaxation and stillness. All members of the school community are welcome to attend and no prior yoga experience is necessary.
Community Yoga is held in Hodgkin Hall and Julia will meet you outside the door on the Carr Street side of the school at 7.40am. If you would like more information contact our school Yoga teacher Julia Gibson.
