Madagascar

An intrepid team of 7 (5 builders, the team leader and Madame Wilkinson - the translator) is heading off to Madagascar at the end of this term. They are planning to rebuild a Church that was destroyed by a cyclone. They hope to buy all the tools and leave them there so that the locals can rebuild other structures that were destroyed. NCS will be fundraising for this equipment.

Please pray:

  • that the team will have wisdom in knowing what to buy here (and that it gets through customs without further cost),
  • for health, safety and unity for whole team
  • that the team will be a blessing and encouragement to local believers

Year 5 Excursion to Canberra - 2 - 5 July 2025

Students in Year 5 at NCS will soon be undertaking an educational excursion to Canberra. Students will be given opportunities to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the costs of the excursion, the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

A Shared Responsibility: Student Safety and Technology Use

Before we share today’s important message, we want to acknowledge something that unites us all: the desire to keep our children safe, curious, and supported as they grow. As partners in their learning journey, we know you value both their wellbeing and their ability to use technology responsibly.

That’s why we’re reaching out today.

A new and concerning trend has emerged on TikTok involving students inserting pencil graphite into the USB ports of Chromebooks and laptops. Although it may appear harmless or entertaining to some, this action carries real danger. In several reported cases — including a video shown in the link below — it has caused devices to smoke and, in some instances, even catch fire.

This not only causes serious damage to school equipment, but also creates a safety risk for students and those around them.

We ask that you speak with your child about the risks of engaging in such activities — not from a place of fear, but from a place of awareness, responsibility, and shared values.

Thank you for taking a moment to help us reinforce the importance of safe, respectful use of technology at school. Your support makes a difference.
