Foundation

It's been a very busy couple of weeks in Foundation. We have been doing lots of learning, singing, dancing, creating and laughter in our classrooms.

The Foundation students got to watch and take part in an interactive puppet show about resilience as part of our inquiry unit. There was lots of excitement, cheering and singing during the show. We are very excited to make our own sock puppets over the rest of the term and create our own puppet shows with our Grade 6 buddies.

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been working on constructing sentences with a who (noun) and a do (verb). The students have really enjoyed writing sentences on our mini whiteboards and remembering to use finger spaces and full stops. We have also been practising sounding out words to help us with our spelling. During reading sessions, our mentor texts have been focused around characters making positive and negative choices and the motivations behind their decisions.

Maths

In Maths, we have been exploring time and shapes. The students have enjoyed finding examples of shapes in the classroom, making shape monsters and creating shape designs. We have been singing songs about time and the days of the week. We have been talking about things that we do at different times of the day, and events that occur on the weekends compared to during the week.

The new Foundation - Grade 3 playground has been a massive hit with the Foundation students and we were very excited to be able to explore it last week.
