Level 6

We're a great mix in Level 6!

Production practice is well underway in Level 6, and anticipation for the event is quickly building! Our students have shown great dedication to their roles by learning their lines and attending rehearsals during their lunch breaks. They have also been helping to create props during their break times. We are very proud of their efforts and enthusiasm!

Reading

During reading lessons, we have been exploring how persuasive language is used in fiction and non-fiction texts, as well as in visual media, such as advertisements. Students have been involved in rich discussions and meaningful tasks that deepen their understanding of these texts. They have also been learning to identify more subtle forms of persuasion, such as emotive language, implied messages and carefully chosen visuals.

Writing

We have been applying what we are learning in Reading lessons to write school-based persuasive texts. Students have analysed persuasive techniques and their key features to revise and improve initial drafts. Where possible, they used evidence to support their arguments by researching their topics, making efforts to source and use reputable websites.

Maths

Now that we have finished our unit on area and perimeter, we have begun learning about time. We started by revising how to read both analogue and digital time, as well as how to convert between units of time (such as seconds, minutes, hours and days). Students are now moving on to more complex concepts, including calculating elapsed time and using timetables to solve problems.
