Level 4

It has been another big few weeks in the Level 4 classrooms!!

Writing

The past few weeks have seen our students engaging in poetry writing and responding to a variety of poetry devices and styles in different ways. They have also enjoyed creating some great pieces themselves. There will be more to share with our poetry in the next few weeks!!

Reading

Our reading focus continues to have a theme based around kindness. We have shared and explored many texts and this week our focus has been on the strategy of Cause and Effect. We have been tying the strategy into the ‘Ripple Effect’ of kindness- the idea that if we send it out kindness can come back to us.

Maths

Students have been introduced to fractions in the past week and students have explored converting fractions into decimals and percentages. Please encourage your little people to continue practicing their multiplication and number facts at home too.

Inquiry

Our ‘Ethics’ theme this semester has seen our students progress to understand the abilities of those in our community with disabilities. We were very lucky last week to welcome some special visitors and hear their stories about living with acquired brain injuries. A very big thankyou to Kev, Flynn and their carers for sharing personal and inspiring experiences with us all. Also, a big thanks to our wonderful HEPS mum- Claire Swanton, for organising the visit. It was wonderful to get to know our visitors and hear about the challenges they face and the amazing resilience and strength they show each day.
