National Songwriting Competition 

Entries are open for the Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF) 2025 National songwriting competition! Last year we had 32 students enter into the competition, and one student received a ‘Highly Commended’ for his song! This competition is a great opportunity for students to be creative and to showcase their songs to an audience. I will be talking to students during Music classes about the competition, but please talk about the competition with your child at home if you think your child will be interested.

If your child is interested in participating, please email the following to  ztsai@hrkensington.catholic.edu.au by 9th September 2025:

• A pdf file of your child’s song lyrics 
• A mp3 or m4a file of your child’s song recording 
• Your child’s full name and year level 
• Your child’s birthday 

Please note that if you do not send these to me before the 8th of September, then you will have to enrol your child into the competition yourself before the 15th of September 2025. 

Choir Performance in Week 6 

Dear Parents and Carers, 

Our Holy Rosary choir has been practising their songs diligently, and will be performing “Defying Gravity” in week 6 for teachers, students and parents. We invite you to come in and listen to their performance!

Class Concert in Week 6

Dear Parents and Carers, 

Class concerts will be held in week 6 for all year levels. Students are invited to perform an item at class concerts. This can include playing a musical instrument, singing a song, dancing or a drama performance. Students have always put on amazing performances at previous class concerts, so I am excited to see what performances our talented students will be doing this year! All parents and carers are invited to come in to have a listen to the performances. Please see below the timetable for class concerts: 

Term 2 Production Songs Rehearsal Schedule

Dear Parents and Carers, 

I have attached below the rehearsal schedule for production songs in Term 2. Please check the timetable and remind your child to attend rehearsals if they have a part in the song. As we are hosting fortnightly rehearsals, it is important that they don’t miss out on the rehearsals so they are fully prepared for the big day!
