Mrs Rassias
As we move through the colder months, I’d like to take a moment to remind our community of the importance of keeping unwell children at home. While we understand the challenges this can present for families, it is essential in helping prevent the spread of illness across our school and ensuring each child has the chance to properly rest and recover.
Why this matters:
Preventing the Spread of Illness:
Sending a sick child to school—even with mild symptoms—can lead to the rapid transmission of contagious illnesses such as colds, the flu, or COVID-19. Keeping them home protects the health of other students, teachers, and staff.
Supporting Rest and Recovery:
When children are unwell, rest is vital. Attending school while sick can slow their recovery and may even worsen their condition.
Seeking Medical Advice:
If your child is unwell, please consult your GP or healthcare provider. They can advise when it is safe for your child to return to school and whether any documentation is needed.
Following School Attendance Policies:
Our school follows Department of Education guidelines regarding illness and attendance. In some cases, a medical certificate may be required. We also refer to the Victorian Department of Health’s School Exclusion Table, which clearly outlines when children must stay home.
Learning from Home (if appropriate):
If your child is feeling well enough to complete some light schoolwork from home, please reach out to their teacher. We will do our best to support their learning during their absence.
If your child is well enough to return to school but still requires medication during the day, please visit the school office to complete a Medication Authority Form. This ensures we can safely administer medication in accordance with school policy.
All medication must be clearly labelled with:
• your child’s full name
• the required dosage
• the time it needs to be administered
Please note: Students must not carry medication in their school bags under any circumstances. All medication must be handed to office staff upon arrival.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and healthy school environment. By working together, we can minimise disruptions and keep our community well.
Student reports will be available to view on Compass on Friday 20th June from 4pm. These reports provide a valuable overview of your child’s learning, growth, and achievements during the first half of the year. We encourage you to take the time to read through the report carefully and celebrate your child’s progress.
To support this process, we invite you to attend our Parent Teacher Interviews, which will be held after school from Tuesday 24th to Thursday 26th June. These interviews are an excellent opportunity to discuss your child's progress in more detail, ask questions, and work in partnership with teachers to support future learning goals.
Please ensure you book an appointment through our usual booking system Compass.
If you need assistance, feel free to contact the office.
At our last School Council, Education Sub Committee presented two policies for ratification. They were the Asthma Policy and the Anaphylaxis Policy. They are attached below for your perusal.
