Depuis trois semaines, nos jeunes élèves de Grande Section découvrent un geste essentiel pour apprendre l'écriture cursive française: la boucle. Pour cela, ils ont commencé par aborder ce geste grâce au jeu du hockey puis ont transféré le mouvement afin de réaliser des boucles au sol. Enfin, ils sont passés à un grand format papier puis sur l’ardoise. La prochaine étape consistera à réaliser des boucles sur un cahier avec les lignages francais. Bravo a tous pour leur implication et leurs progrès!

For the past three weeks, our young Prep students have been exploring an essential movement for learning French cursive writing: the loop. They began by practising this motion through a hockey-style game, then transferred the movement to create loops on the ground. Next, they moved on to large-format paper and then to the whiteboard. The next step will be to form loops in a notebook using French-lined paper. Well done to all for their effort and progress!

Exploring Position, Location and Movement with Bee-Bots!

Our Prep students have been busy learning all about position and location during their recent mathematics unit. To bring their learning to life, they had the exciting opportunity to use Bee-Bots—small, programmable robots that help students explore directional language in a fun and hands-on way.

The Prep students worked together to guide their Bee-Bots through various tracks, using words like forwards, turn, left and right to describe and plan each movement. They were challenged to think critically about the direction their Bee-Bot needed to go and to predict its path before setting it off.

This interactive activity helped consolidate their understanding of directional concepts and provided a fantastic opportunity for problem-solving, teamwork and discovery. It was wonderful to see the students so engaged and enthusiastic as they navigated their Bee-Bots around the classroom!

"Lève ta Voix" Reading

Congratulations to our 3 finalists who participated in the “Lève ta Voix” reading competition finals this morning. Organised by the AAFBS (Australian Association of French and English Bilingual Schools), the event united French schools from across the country taking part and featured some amazing talents! Well done to Alice, Elise and a special shout to Casimir who won first place in his category!

Bravo à nos 3 finalistes qui ont participé à la finale de la compétition de lecture « Lève ta Voix » ce matin. Organisée par L’AAFEBS (association australienne des écoles bilingues franco-anglaises), l’évènement a réuni les écoles françaises à l’échelle nationale et nous a fait découvrir de grands talents ! Bravo à Alise, Élise et tout particulièrement à Casimir qui a remporté la première place dans sa catégorie !

Jeudi 29 mai s’est déroulée la finale inter-établissements du concours de lecture à haute voix de l’AAFEBS intitulé Lève ta voix!

Près de 70 classes du CP à la Terminale se sont inscrites pour partager et faire rayonner la langue française à travers des textes choisis par les élèves dans la littérature francophone.

Geoffroy de Pennart, Olympe de Gouges, Antoine de St Exupéry, Victor Hugo entre autres ont résonné dans les établissements de Killarney Heights, Caulfield Junior College, Camberwell Primary School, Telopea Park School, Taren Point, au Lycée Condorcet de Sydney, à Tingalpa State School et au lycée Le CLézio de Port-Vila

Ce fut un beau moment de lecture et d’interprétation avec des textes qui nous ont touché, fait rire, des lecteurs et lectrices attentifs, soucieux et soucieuses d’animer leur lecture par la voix, le regard et le corps.

Merci à l’AAFEBS, qui grâce à son existence même, permet aux écoles d’enseignement bilingue français/anglais de se connaitre et d’échanger, notamment lors de son congrès annuel.

Un immense merci et bravo aux enseignantes et enseignants qui ont accompagné leurs élèves dans la préparation de cet événement.

Thursday May 29 saw the inter-school finals of the AAFEBS read-aloud competition entitled Lève ta voix!

Almost 70 classes from CP to Terminale signed up to share and promote the French language through texts chosen by the students from French-language literature.

Texts by Antoine de St Exupéry, Victor Hugo, Geoffroy de Pennart, Olympe de Gouges and others resonated in AAFEBS schools in Killarney Heights, Caulfield Junior College, Camberwell Primary School, Telopea Park School, Taren Point, Lycée Condorcet Sydney, Tingalpa State School and Lycée Le CLézio in Port-Vila.

It was a wonderful moment of reading and interpretation, with excerpts that touched us and made us laugh, and with attentive readers who were eager to enliven their reading with their voices, their eyes and their bodies.

Thanks to the AAFEBS, which, thanks to its very existence, enables French/English bilingual schools to get to know each other and sharing experiences, notably at its annual congress.

A huge thank you and bravo to the teachers who helped their students prepare for this event.
