Principal's News

Where every child is known, challenged and supported to be lifelong learners.

Dear Parents and Friends,

Firstly, I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Jodie and Christine for stepping into the roles of Acting Principal and Acting Deputy during my Long Service Leave. They both did an outstanding job, and I felt so confident knowing the school was in such capable hands. A big thank you also to Tracey and Fiona for the amazing support they provided, and of course, to all our dedicated staff who always go above and beyond to give our students the very best learning experience.

Can you believe we’re already halfway through Term 2? It’s been a wonderfully busy and engaging time with many special events including National Reconciliation Week, Cross Country, ANZAC Day commemorations, Assemblies, the Mother's Day Breakfast and Stall, Eucharist celebrations, the Year 3 Camp Experience, Walk to School Day, Interschool Sports, Incursions, Preps in Pyjamas and more!

National Reconciliation Week

Last week, we came together to mark National Reconciliation Week with a beautiful Prayer Service during Friday’s assembly. This week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about our shared history and culture, and how we can work together towards reconciliation. In class, students explored this theme in thoughtful and meaningful ways. A special thank you to our Year 5 students for leading the service and to Jodie for her support.

Student-Led Conferences / Celebration of Learning

Our students and teachers are working hard in preparation for the upcoming student-led conferences, which will be held on Wednesday 25 June (Students will finish at 1:30pm) and Thursday 26 June in Week 10. Please note that, because of these conferences, we will not hold a separate Celebration of Learning event this term. Instead, your child will share their schoolwork with you during their conference time.  Booking details for our Student Led Conferences will be sent out to families next week.

Winter Uniform

All students should now be in full winter uniform. St Brigid's beanies are available for purchase and are the only beanies permitted at school. Just a reminder – boys are welcome to wear shorts all year round if they prefer.

Lost Property

With the colder weather upon us, now is a great time to check the lost property baskets. We currently have two baskets filled with uniform items waiting to be reunited with their owners. Please pop by and take a look.

New Students

While I was away, our St Brigid’s community welcomed some new faces! We are so pleased to welcome:

  • Toby (1/2R)  and Darcy (3/4D)

  •  Jake (1/2R)

  • Chanel (5/6H) and Alliyah (3/4D)

We’re so glad to have you and your families join our school.

F–4 Disco

We can’t wait to see all the dance moves at tonight’s F–4 Disco! A big thank you to our 1/2 parent reps for organising everything and to our favourite DJ, Andy, for bringing the music and fun. Be sure to look out for photos in next week’s newsletter!

Baby News

We are very exctied to announce the arrival of Mrs Tracey's son, Atticus on Friday 30th of May! Mum, Dad and big sister Addy are all settling into life at home with baby Atticus and all are doing really well.

Today is also Mrs Finster's last day at school as she begins her parental leave. We hope Mrs Finster gets to have a little rest before her household becomes 5!  It's certainly exciting times at St Brigid's.

Reminder School Closure Day - TOMORROW - Friday 6th June

On Friday, our staff will be joining colleagues from St Louis for a special day of reflection led by Fr Rob Galea.  Fr Rob is a Catholic priest from the Sandhurst Diocese and is internationally known for his work in faith and youth ministry. He is also a published author and musician, but above all, he is dedicated to his calling as a follower of Christ.

This day will focus on staff faith formation through keynote sessions, with time for prayer and reflection, centred around this year’s Jubilee theme – Pilgrims of Hope.

King’s Birthday Public Holiday – Monday 9th June

Please note that Monday 9th June is a public holiday in observance of the King’s Birthday.

We wish all families a safe and restful long weekend.
