Annual Report

Our school’s Annual Report was presented at the Annual General Meeting last term. The Annual Report provides principals and school councils with an opportunity to share the year’s achievements and progress with the school community. This includes reflecting on the school’s performance and explaining the impact of school improvement efforts on student outcomes.

The report provides details about our school improvement strategies and the impact that these strategies have had on student outcomes. The report also includes a selection of important measures that we use to determine areas for improvement and to monitor our progress.

We are really proud of our school achievements in 2024 and the resulting student achievement data. The data presented in the report aligns with our other school-based assessments and shows that our improvement plans are improving the academic and wellbeing outcomes for our students. Most pleasingly, we are continuing to see the trend where we are increasing the number of students working above their expected level whilst reducing the number of students who are working below.

You can see the full data set and further information about our progress in the Annual Report found on our website or through the link below:

Special Weeks & Events

Education Week

This week is Education Week and the theme is Celebration of Cultures, which highlights the diversity of our communities, and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school. Throughout the week the students engaged in different activities centred around this theme and celebrated all things education.

Peter Coombe Concert

This morning our P-3 students were treated with a concert from the legendary Peter Coombe. It was hard to work out which out of the students or parents was more excited by this visit! Peter entertained everyone with a range of new and old songs and got the kids singing and dancing along. Thanks to Michelle for arranging this visit - we all had a ball!

National Simultaneous Storytime

We also participated in the 2025 National Simultaneous Storytime this week. This event occurs every year when a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. This year's book was 'The Truck Cat' written by Deborah Frenkel, illustrated by Danny Snell.

Reconciliation Week

Next week is Reconciliation Week. This year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us. Next week students will participate in a range of activities to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Pupil Free Day

A reminder that Tuesday 10th June is a pupil free day. As part of the Victorian Government Schools Agreement, all teachers are eligible for 1 professional practice day in 2025. These days are allocated to enable teachers to focus on the improved delivery of high quality teaching and learning.

In consultation with the staff and the school council, we have allocated the professional practice day as a pupil free day. Teachers will be working on areas such as planning, assessment and reporting. TeamKids will be available for all day care on this day.

Mother’s & Special Person’s Day

We had a beautiful sunny afternoon celebrating all the mothers, grandmothers and other special people in our children's lives! It was great to see so many people enjoying time together under Gumbuya and through the school grounds with their friends and families.

A huge thank you to Nicole, Leanne and Tom for their role in the organisation of the stall and event and another huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers who gave up their time and worked behind the scenes to help create such a successful occasion for all of our families.

We hope all the mums and other special people in our community had a wonderful Mother's Day and were able to relax, get spoilt and enjoy the day with their loved ones.

Athletics & Sports Day

3-6 Athletics

Our 3-6 Athletics Day was a huge success! The weather gods smiled on us and our students gave their all in the events. There were some fantastic performances, however the highlight of the day was seeing and hearing how encouraging our students were to their peers. Travis is compiling the results of the different events and working out who will progress to the next stages of competition. This information will be published in the near future. Thank you to Travis for all his hard work in organising the Athletics Day.

P-2 Sports Day

Whilst all the big kids were off at athletics, our P-2 students were enjoying a fun-filled morning of different activities and games. The sports day was a great success and all the students had a great time. The P-2 students were able to make new friends in their mixed groups and were required to work together to complete challenges. Thanks to all the teachers, ES staff and parents that were able to help out and make the event so fun for our students.

Cross Country

Today, our cross-country team travelled to the Werribee Racecourse to compete in the Hobsons Bay and Wyndham Division Cross Country. The top 12 runners from each age category progress to the Western Metropolitan Cross Country competition at Brimbank Park.  I would like to congratulate all of the athletes who made it to this event and acknowledge the tremendous efforts that they all put in for their races. A special mention to Oden (2nd), Max (6th) and Olivia (8th) who will progress to the next stage!
