🛑 Stop, Walk, Talk – Learning to Handle Disrespect Respectfully

🗣️Wellbeing Leaders in Action!

This term, our Wellbeing Leaders have been visiting classrooms to teach students a simple and powerful strategy called Stop, Walk, Talk. This is part of our school's focus on respectful relationships and empowering students to manage challenging situations, especially when dealing with disrespect.

Here’s how it works:

1. STOP – Use a calm, clear voice and a hand signal to tell the person to stop.

This helps set a boundary and lets the other person know their behaviour isn’t okay.

2. WALK – If the disrespect continues, walk away confidently.

Walking away shows strength and helps avoid escalating the situation.

3. TALK – If it’s still a problem, talk to a trusted adult.

We encourage students to seek help early — speaking up is a sign of confidence, not weakness.

This approach gives students the tools to:

  • Stand up for themselves in a respectful way
  • Avoid back-and-forth arguments
  • Know when and how to ask for help

Our Wellbeing Leaders have been amazing role models, leading discussions, modelling the strategy, and supporting younger students during class visits. We're proud of their leadership and the positive impact they're having across the school.
