Sometimes we feel a little worried, angry, or upset — that’s called stress, and it happens to everyone! The good news? There are some great ways to handle stress and feel better. At The Resilience Project, we learn how to grow our wellbeing by using GEM: Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. Let’s see how they can help!
''This week in our classrooms we have been talking about ways to handle stress. We came up with ways to handle stress, we wrote it down on a sticky note and put them up in the classroom. Some ways to handle stress are listening to music, reading a book and drawing. If you stress a lot, find a way to distract yourself from thinking about it. If your having trouble finding a way to calm down a way to calm down is breathing in and out.''
When things feel tricky, try to stop and think of three things you're thankful for. It could be:
Focusing on the good helps your brain feel happier and calmer.
When we understand how others feel and try to help, we feel better too. Try:
Kindness is like a superpower — it helps you and others feel great.
Sometimes we just need to slow down. Try this:
Being mindful helps your brain take a break and feel more peaceful.
Remember: It’s okay to feel stressed. Talk to a teacher, a friend, or someone at home if you need help. And don’t forget — you are braver and stronger than you think!
