Celebrating 20 Years of the Premiers’ Reading Challenge – Join the Fun!

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, and we’re excited to invite all families to be part of this wonderful celebration of reading.

The 2025 theme, "20 Years of Words and Wonder," highlights the joy, imagination, and lifelong love of reading the Challenge aims to inspire. Since it began, the Challenge has supported the literacy development of children from birth to Year 10 — and this year, it's more fun than ever!

Students are encouraged to read 20 books throughout the year — either from the 15,000+ title list or their own favourites. As children progress, they’ll earn gemstone badges to mark exciting milestones:

• Badge 1: First book completed
• Badge 2: 30% of the target
• Badge 3: 60% of the target
• Badge 4: Challenge completed and verified

Students can also personalise their online experience by selecting and saving a fun reading avatar.

Families play an important role in supporting and encouraging reading at home. Whether it’s a bedtime story, a weekend read together, or a trip to the library, every book helps develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

All students who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Premier — a great way to celebrate their effort and success!
