Welcome Back! Hoping that you all enjoyed a well-earned rest and a wonderful Easter together.
At the end of Term 1, we prepared some special Easter posters to go home to our families. We hope that you loved them. Students also enjoyed creating some Easter wreaths and a range of colourful Easter themed activities over the last week of Term 1.
One of the BEST ways to end a school term is with a Colour Fun Run! Thank you to all our families for your fundraising efforts! Everyone had a fantastic time, even though a few students were very hesitant to begin with.
We LOVE Show and Tell! Especially when it's a cute 1-week-old baby goat!
The Foundation students had a wonderful time meeting 'Benji', Oliver's new family pet.
Show and Tell is a great opportunity for students to build their confidence when speaking in front of others and it connects to English curriculum areas for Speaking and Listening, such as; learning to ask relevantquestions and to express requests and opinions in ways that suit different contexts, engaging in multiple speaking and listening experiences to build vocabulary and, bringing vocabulary from personal experiences, relating this to new experiences and building a vocabulary for thinking and taking about school topics. It is also a fantastic way for students to get to know each other better and build their personal connections.
Term 2 Literacy began with revision and reminders.
It was wonderful to see what students had retained over the break and to hear that some of them had even spent time over the break practising their writing!
We are finalising the last of our sessions on 'Me and my community' from last Term. It was a great chance to go back over how to deal with conflict with our friends. Students were able to discuss a range of examples of conflict (pushing in line, not sharing, using unkind words) and how their choices can make the situation worse or better. Many thanks to 'Horsey' and 'Piggy' the puppets for helping us.
The story we listened to that helped our discussion was 'Moly & Mae'.
Here is the link if you would like to watch it and discuss it with your child.
