National Reconciliation Week 2025 ❤️💛🖤

Ngata (Hello),

This year, OLA is proud to recognise National Reconciliation Week - May 27 to June 3.  This is a special time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements—and to explore how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This year’s theme, 'Bridging Now to Next,' calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and to continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

Throughout the week, the F.I.R.E Carriers and teachers will lead our students in:

  • Storytime and discussions about the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • whole-school assembly where students will learn and reflect on bridging “now” to “next.”
  • Activities and competitions - a lunchtime quiz, colouring competitions and Indigenous games on the playground.

These activities help our children understand the importance of respect, fairness, and friendship in building a brighter future for all Australians.

We encourage families to talk at home about what reconciliation means and how we can all be part of creating positive change—starting right now.

Together, we are bridging the gap between the present and a future filled with understanding, respect, and opportunity.
