Student Leadership

The first half of the year has seen our student leaders across all year levels step up and make a meaningful impact in our school community. From taking the mic at year-level assemblies to fostering the motto of MGSC students, support MGSC students, our leaders have embraced the challenges and opportunities that come with their roles.
The Year 7 team was asked - “What's your biggest achievement in leadership?
Students responded, saying they embraced their transition to secondary school with enthusiasm and courage. A standout moment was running their first leadership assembly, a bold step that showcased their confidence and commitment to representing their peers. Their efforts have set a strong foundation for the year ahead.
The Year 8s were asked - “What's something you're working towards this year?”
They responded, saying that they are excited to pitch their Debate Club return idea, offering a platform for students to engage critically, build their public speaking skills, and learn the power of respectful discussion. Our Year 8 leaders have remained focused and committed.
For Year 9s they were asked - "What are you looking forward to in leadership?"
They are excited and have begun planning initiatives tailored to their cohort’s interests and growth. They played an active role in commemorating ANZAC Day, demonstrating thoughtfulness and respect during this important national event.
Our Year 10 leaders thrived talking about - “What is their biggest highlight of leadership so far?”
They replied with the saying they were excited to be a part of the successful City Experience, embracing the social and collaborative aspects of the program. They showed maturity and teamwork while navigating challenges to organise a big day for their year level.
In Year 11, “What are you looking forward to in leadership?”
Leadership has taken on a new energy. Students are looking forward to bringing spirit and enthusiasm to the upcoming House Performance and continuing their work on running engaging and inclusive year-level assemblies.
We want to thank all the leaders for their outstanding efforts, but also give a big shout-out to our Year 12 leaders, helping to make everyone's ideas happen. The House, Performing Arts, Environmental and SRC captains have been busy planning events such as the swimming carnival, athletics and our house performance whilst balancing their studies.
Across the board, our student leaders have embodied initiative, passion, and integrity. We’re excited to see what they will achieve in the second half of the year. MGSC students are supporting MGSC students.
Thank you!

Anzac Day Student Ceremony at Shrine
On Monday 28 April, 20 student leaders from MGSC represented the College at the 93rd Annual Anzac Day Student Commemoration Ceremony at Melbourne’s iconic Shrine of Remembrance.
Over 3500 Students stood together in reflection and remembrance – a powerful reminder that they are the next generation who will carry the torch of Anzac stories into the future.
We thank Harini and Pina, Student Leaders. For laying a wreath on behalf of the college.
SRC Athletics Carnival Sausage Sizzle
The barbeque was fired-up early by the SRC at the Athletics Carnival. Sausages sizzled and sauce was squirted all day resulting in a tidy $850 raised by the committed students.
