Education in Faith Leader

Dear St Mary’s Community,

We wish all mothers and special women in our lives a joyful and blessed Mother’s Day on Sunday

It has been wonderful to work with some of our students in advance of our Mass tomorrow. All of the students participating, from Prep to Year 6 have represented themselves in a respectful and mature manner, highlighting a growing faith and demonstrable leadership qualities.

As we journey through the Easter season, we are reminded of the richness of this sacred time. On Sunday 25th May, we will celebrate the Ascension of the Lord, when Jesus returned to the Father in Heaven, promising to send the Holy Spirit to guide and empower us. The following weekend, on Sunday 1 June, we look ahead to the great feast of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles—transforming them from fearful followers into bold witnesses of the Gospel.

Following Pentecost, we enter a series of solemn feasts that draw us deeper into the mystery of our faith:

  • On Sunday, 8 June, we celebrate Trinity Sunday, honouring God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three persons, yet one divine nature.
  • Then on Sunday, 15 June, we mark the Feast of Corpus Christi, giving thanks for the gift of the Eucharist—the Body and Blood of Christ that sustains us on our faith journey.

These weeks are filled with moments of reflection, gratitude, and renewed purpose. They call us to ask: In what ways is God calling us to live out our faith more fully?

Liturgy Group

For students who have received their First Communion (or are registered to receive this year), we are forming a team to take part in school liturgies—carrying the cross and candles in procession, and leading prayer opportunities throughout the term.

If your child is interested, please encourage them to speak with the Year 6 leaders, Anna, Isaac, Olivia or Zoe, who are helping to coordinate the group as part of their Faith and Social Justice leadership roles.

May – The Month of Mary

May is a special month in our Church calendar, dedicated to Mary, the Mother of Jesus. As our school’s patron, we honour her as someone who lovingly intercedes for us. We invite families to pray the Hail Mary together at home and grow in this beautiful devotion.
