River Torren fieldwork excursion
In Week 9, Year 8 Geography classes ventured to the River Torrens to engage in some river fieldwork, exploring river features and river health. Based on the data collected they are now making an assessment of river health and will present their findings in a formal geographical report.
Lots of fun was had throughout the excursion with perfect weather to explore a riverine landscape.
Year 9 Geography Zoo Fieldwork Excursions
In Weeks 7 and 9, as part of their studies of Biomes, the Year 9 Geography students were involved in fieldwork excursions to the Adelaide Zoo.
Students were involved in the collection of data of a variety of different biomes that are represented at the Zoo, including deserts, rainforests, savannah and temperate forests. They also had the opportunity to observe the animals that are found in these biomes and consider the various techniques of gathering data that can be used as part of their geographic studies.
Back in the classroom, students compared and analysed the data they collected, to draw conclusions about the biome displays and data collection methods.
Perfect weather allowed for successful fieldwork excursions.

Year 8 Health and Wellbeing Day
Challenge. Growth. Culture. Fun!
These were the themes of the recent Year 8 Health and Wellbeing Days last week. Our Year 8 students had an exhilarating day at West Beach Adventure Park and The Beach House. They conquered high-ropes obstacles, enjoyed thrilling water slides, and bonded over games. It was a day filled with laughter, challenges, and unforgettable memories, fostering camaraderie and adventure among the students.
The students also had an enriching day with Jack Buckskin from Kuma Kaaru. Immersed in Aboriginal culture, they learned about Land and Country, Aboriginal Kinship, and even performed a traditional dance. It was a day of cultural exchange and appreciation, leaving lasting impressions on all involved.
Thank you to the teachers involved in facilitating the activities and to the students and parents for their positive and supportive approach toward both days.

Enrichment:
UniSA STEM Tour
On Thursday, 28 March a group of students from Year 8 through to Year 11 attended a STEM focused tour of UniSA Mawson Lakes Campus as part of our Enrichment Program. Students signed up to have the opportunity to explore our local Uni campus and ask a range of questions about the STEM courses on offer. The students particularly enjoyed seeing a flight simulator, the mechanical engineering hub …. and the big bike!
This was a great opportunity for students to grow their awareness and enthusiasm for STEM careers.
Thank you to UniSA for hosting us.
