Wellbeing  Update

School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support

The School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) program is designed to create a positive school environment. An integral part of this initiative involves introducing, modelling, and reinforcing positive behaviour. As part of this, our school community has collaboratively developed a behaviour matrix based on our three core values: Kind, Respectful, and Safe. These values are integrated into our daily learning experiences, explicitly taught, and promoted throughout all areas of the school.

Throughout this term, our Health and Wellbeing Teachers, Craig Mather and Rhys McIntosh, have delivered engaging learning experiences centred around these core values. Their lessons follow a structured format, ensuring effective implementation and understanding among our students. To further support this learning, our upper years students have had the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences with students in the younger years, fostering positive relationships across different year levels.

Our ultimate aim is to build and embed SWPBS language throughout our school and teach our expected behaviours. By consistently reinforcing positive behaviours and providing opportunities for learning, we are confident that our students will thrive in a supportive and respectful learning environment.

PLAY Leaders

This week, we were fortunate to provide some of our students at ENPS with an exceptional leadership opportunity aimed at supporting the wellbeing initiatives in our school. Facilitated by Resilient Youth Australia, the PLAY (Positivity, Leadership, and Activated Youth) program was delivered to a group of Year 5/6 student leaders through a full-day onsite training experience.

During this training, our PLAY Leaders were equipped with the skills to facilitate safe and enjoyable games for their peers during lunchtime. Through these activities, students will not only support each other and practise positive values but also develop their leadership abilities, fostering our positive and supportive school culture.

We asked some of our new PLAY Leaders to share their experiences with us:

“During our PLAY Leader training we played lots of cool games and we learned how to teach the other students. We learned lots of ways to communicate without talking. Learning different ways of communicating was my favourite part. I am excited to play, and to teach the little kids how to play.”

- Ella, 5AJ

“The educators were very nice. They gave us a good understanding of the skills we need to be a leader and role model. They gave us a lot of ideas on how to be good PLAY Leaders. They made sure that we all had our own way of doing it, and we knew everyone and how we could work with them. It was exciting how they amped us up and every game was a new level of energy which helped us pay attention.”

- Hamish 5AJ

Next term, our PLAY Leaders will begin facilitating these games during lunchtime, providing a fun and engaging opportunity for students in the yard. Our PLAY leaders will communicate with students when this will occur after the school holidays. This initiative will complement the various play options available during lunch time and we look forward to this commencing!

ENPS Walkathon

The ENPS Walkathon returns for 2024, and we couldn't be more thrilled! This event is a fantastic occasion for our community to come together, celebrate physical activity, and have a blast. Expect a day filled with outdoor fun, lively music, and vibrant colours.

All students have received prize/sponsorship booklets for the 2024 ENPS Walkathon, which is a community fundraising event, scheduled for Wednesday 24th April (the day before ANZAC Day). These booklets contain comprehensive information on how the fundraising and prize system operate. Additionally, a digital copy of the booklet is available for easy access HERE.

At the conclusion of the fundraiser, participants can choose to order prizes or donate to various causes, including Carbon Neutral (tree planting), Great Barrier Reef Foundation (coral planting or turtle protection), The Smith Family (reading support), or OzHarvest (providing meals).

In the past, funds raised have contributed to enhancing our outdoor learning environments, such as our recent resurfacing project for the upper basketball court and the acquisition of new sports equipment. This year, we're seeking student voice through our Junior School Council to determine how we can utilise funds from this fundraiser to further improve our school.

Please note that participation in fundraising is entirely optional. Regardless of the amount raised, all students will have the opportunity to participate in the Walkathon on the day.  We can’t wait for a fun filled, active and colourful day!

All students who create a fundraising profile by the end of term next Thursday will go in the draw to win a fabulous Easter Basket!
