Year Three

As part of our unit of inquiry, the Year Three students are currently exploring the central idea, 'Communities respond to local needs', through the transdisciplinary theme, How We Organise Ourselves.

To support our unit of inquiry, Mayor Cr Pierce Tyson and Councillor Ava Adams spoke to the Year Three students about their roles and responsibilities working for Moonee Valley Council.

The highlight of this learning opportunity was that some lucky students were chosen to be the mayor and other councillors in a fun and engaging role-playing activity!

They learned about the team structures and processes undertaken by each member of the chambers in making collaborative decisions and teamwork, addressing community issues, and what services are required to cater for everyone's needs.

A special thank you to Mayor Cr Pierce Tyson, Cr Ava Adams, and Sharon Keppel for speaking to our students. We can’t wait to take action and write to you about the things we would like to see change in our community!
