Term 1 - Willy Kids are Respectful

Week 9 : Willy Kids Value the Rights of Others

We quite often hear the word ‘rights’. But what does it mean to value the rights of others? Basically, it means working together to ensure that everyone gets what they need and are entitled to.

In our school, us, as Willy Kids, have a number of rights. These include:

  • The right to learn
  • The right to be safe
  • The right to be respected
  • The right to be cared for
  • The right to be who they are

The staff and visitors to our school also have a number of rights, and as Willy Kids and members of the Willy community, it is everyone’s responsibility to make sure that these rights are respected.

So how can we do that? Firstly, we make sure that we help those around us learn by being a good learner ourselves. We concentrate on our work and use our time productively in class. In the playground, we play safely, and we look after those around us. By being friendly and caring Willy Kids, this will help others to feel safe.

Importantly, we always display respectful behaviour towards everyone both in and outside our school.  As Willy Kids we know that if we look after the rights of others, our own rights will be looked after as well.
