Practice Adventurous Journey
March is always a lovely time to be hiking through the Australian bush. Reduced screen time, physical activity, bushcraft, navigation and quality time with your mates is always a bonus.
On the weekend we had 15 students from Years 10 and 11 complete the 40km hike from Woy Woy to Wondabyne station as part of their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Practice Adventurous journey. Hiking, camping in tents, cooking on stoves, building campfires, a swim in the Hawkesbury and time with their mates was all part of the adventure. Resilience, leadership and mateship are all part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
Congratulations to these students! Their preparation, planning and application towards this activity was outstanding!
These activities do not occur without the goodwill of our staff and the support of the College Leadership Team and the many contributions from our P&F. A special thanks must go to our staff member, Mr Anesh Naidoo, and old boys Jack Schyvens and Josh Monico.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is open to all students from Year 9 and above. All enquiries to join the College Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme can be directed to Mrs Gunns our Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator or your son can turn up to our meetings from 8:15 am Wednesday mornings behind the main stage area prior to the General Assembly
