YEAR 5 EXCURSION

As part of their Term 1 Book Study of the Morris Gleitzman novel, Once, the Year 5's went on an excursion to the Melbourne Holocaust Museum. Each class had the opportunity to learn the stories of seven Holocaust survivors. Through the use of interactive displays and group discussions, the students learnt how the children survived, the people that were instrumental in hiding them and what the survivors did with their lives once they immigrated to Melbourne after the war. The program was designed to highlight the importance of bravery, kindness, hope and fairness, and it was great to see and hear our students discussing the examples of these values with the museum staff.

YEAR 5 BUDDIES

After much anticpation, the Year 5 students finally had the chance to meet their Year 1 Buddies! Each Year 5 student was paired up with a Year 1 and they had a lot of fun getting to know a little about each other while helping to make Easter baskets.

YEAR 5 SCIENCE

The Year 5's have been studying different types of planets this term in Science. They have looked at the characteristics of planets and how their make up, atmosphere and distance from the sun can affect these characteristics. They then had a chance to use this information to create their own planet. It was great to see their use of known facts in the creation of a brand new planet!

YEAR 7 TRANSITION

We will be sending home information and application forms for high schools in the first week of Term 2. The application form will have your child's name and closest high school to your house already filled out. Any queries regarding Year 7 Transition should be directed to alistair.straughan@education.vic.gov.au

YEAR 6 iTIME PROJECTS

Hopefully parents have heard from their Year 6 child about their iTime project. We are aiming to present these in Week 2 of next term. Some students have spoken about needing to work on them a little bit during the holidays. We don't want students to spend much of their holidays on homework, but they are welcome to add to their projects to help them be ready on time.
